Its a time suck, it always was but at least it used to be organic and interesting. What was once 'the front page of the internet' and a refreshingly different and interesting community has become just another big social media company trying to squeeze every last second of attention and advertising dollar out of users. In a rather desperate attempt to inflate the valuation of Reddit as much as possible before the IPO, Reddit corporate is turning this platform into just another crappy social media site, and burning bridges with the user, developer, and moderator communities in the process. Librewolf's usually behind a day or two (to be honest not a huge concern for me but it makes sense why this may be an issue).Īgain, I would like to reiterate that BOTH ARE GREAT BROWSERS AND THE PROGRESS THAT TOR AND LW HAVE DONE IS SPECTATULAR. Essentially, if there's a critical vulnerability you want the upstream's patches ASAP. I've already talked about why being close to upstream Firefox is important in this comment.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING THIS ISSUE, BECAUSE THIS DISCUSSION IS MADE BY ACTUALLY KNOWLEDGABLE PEOPLE. Thorin may retire Arkenfox in the future, which may affect Librewolf (but unlikely). Librewolf heavily relies on Arkenfox, and the creator (Thorin-Oakenpants) of Arkenfox seems optimistic on MB with a few changes.Mullvad and TOR are both trustworthy entities with a long track record of supporting privacy initiatives AND have the resources to develop the browser.Having the untouched TOR configs for multiple users would increase anonymity, similar to how the Tor Browser's anti-fingerprinting is more effective when more people use vanilla TOR browser. Getting early adoption would increase the amount of users with the same fingerprint. While this distinction may not be important to some, having THE TOR PROJECT behind a browser definitely increases credibility (though both are open-source and are great browsers). This is an important distinction between MB and Librewolf (LW), a community-based browser.
